fishing for funds
The Obion County Central baseball team will hold a fish dinner fund raiser Friday night prior to the Rebels’ football game against Covington.
The event will be held from 5-7:30 p.m. in the school cafeteria.
The cost of $6 per plate includes fish fillets, fries, hushpuppies, slaw, onions, pickles and a drink.
Tickets can be purchased at the door or by contacting any Rebel baseball player.
Tonight’s game features the No. 3-ranked (Class 4A) Rebels hosting No. 5 Covington.
OC girls, Williamson
top Choctaw meet
The Obion Central girls team and Union City’s participant keep running along.
The Lady Rebels and UC’s Daniel Williamson were winners at the Dyer Country cross country meet held late last week.
Central placed three runners in the top 10 and five in the top 15 to beat out University School of Jackson for the girls’ team win.
Williamson, meanwhile, posted a time of 17:24 to take the boys’ individual title.
OC’s boys placed third in the team total, behind USJ and Crockett County.
For the Lady Rebs, Rachel Jones finished fifth, Nicole Whitson placed sixth and Peyton Daniel was eighth. Brenna Wilkins was 11th overall, and Brittney Dodd placed 12th.
Medaling for the Obion Central boys was Drake Campbell, finishing in 6th place.
Other scoring were Jackson Smith, Austin Riley, Alex Terrell and Ian Miller.
