The Tuesday Night Dresden Dolls Bridge Club met, first of course, at the Kountry Korner  to have dinner.
Then, they went to The American Legion building to have dessert and play bridge.
All of them were so happy and full of fun. I thanked them for my birthday present and told them how lucky I was to be their Bridge Director and to have such a great lively and lovely bunch of girls.
Alma Ford and Sarah Pentecost were hostesses and served fresh coconut cake and apple dumplings, both were super delicious.
Winners were: 1st – Bertha Henry, Martin and Jane Young, Dresden; 2nd – Margie Evans, Fulton and Dianna Neren, Hickman County; and 3rd – Linda Jennings and Becky Bennett, Dresden.
Our Wednesday Club met on Wednesday with four tables in play.  John Harbour of Union City, husband of  Lois Harbour, brought   his sophisticated computer and did all of our scoring.
He puts in the results of each hand we play and enters them into the computer and when the game is over, we have the winners right away.  No scoring by pencil  is needed  anymore.
I guess we are really in the 21st Century.
We missed Alma Ford  that day.  She had been invited by Gov Haslam’s wife to be her guest for a luncheon.  Alma makes us feel important and we are impressed with the company she and her husband keep.  Ever since she and her husband, Billy,  helped Gov. Ned McWherter run the mansion for eight years, she has put us “On The Map.”
Refreshments were pimento and cheese dip, cheese blocks, artichoke, spinach dip, nuts and candy bars.
Food For Thought
“I never considered a difference of opinion in politics, in religion, in philosophy, as cause for withdrawing from a friend.”       – Thomas Jefferson
Winners of this game were Dr. Tom Mayo and John Harbour.  Dr Tom will be 90 in November and comes in first at bridge.  He says it keeps his mind up to par.
