Keylon Hyde
    School:    Union City
    Grade:    Junior
    Height:    5-8
    Weight:    220
    Pos.: Fullback

By the numbers: Certainly no blame could be sent Hyde’s way for Union City’s 52-46 loss to Lake County last week. The bruising inside runner rumbled for 203 yards rushing and three touchdowns on 28 carries, hitting paydirt on runs of three, 47 and five yards He also had two point-after kicks. Hyde is just 53 yards away from his second consecutive 1,000-yard rushing season and leads all Obion County ground gainers. He also shined defensively vs. the Falcons with a team-high six tackles from his linebacker position.
Sound bite: “More and more, Keylon is becoming the type of fullback we need in this offense,” UC head coach Darren Bowling said of Hyde. “He gets better and tougher every day. He’s stronger, he’s more disciplined, he’s more mature. And he has a real feel for what we’re trying to do. He’s been the glue of this team because he never quits and his desire for us to get better.”
HONORABLE MENTION: Khiry Lewis, UC junior slot, scored two touchdowns, one rushing and one receiving, as he finished with eight carries for 67 yards and two catches for 66; Cody Tatum, SF senior fullback, carried 16 times for 47 yards and scored both South Fulton touchdowns in the Red Devils’ 21-14 loss to Trenton Peabody; Travis Rutland, UC junior quarterback, rushed for 68 yards and a touchdown while completing three passes for 146 yards and two more scores.
