Players of the week – Defense | | Posted: Wednesday, October 12, 2011 7:01 pm
| Kendall Greer School: South Fulton Grade: Senior Height: 5-11 Weight: 200 Pos.: Linebacker By the numbers: On a defensive unit that has seen many players moved around due to injuries throughout the season, with Friday night’s 21-14 loss to Trenton being just the latest example, Greer has been a consistent stopper in the middle of the Red Devils’ defense. He had six tackles against the Golden Tide, giving him 28 for the season. Sound bite: “Kendall stepped in and had to start at linebacker for us earlier in the year and now he’s earned a starting spot,” SF head coach Kelly Spivey said. “He had another solid night for us Friday. He still has some improvements to make, but he’s been improving. He brings a lot of effort and energy, and he hasn’t missed many tackles. When he gets his hands on a player, they usually go down. He’s done a good job for us. HONORABLE MENTION: Hunter Wade, SF freshman safety, had six tackles; Willy Kneuppel, SF junior linebacker, had six total stops; Ryan Prince, SF junior linebacker, finished with six tackles; Keylon Hyde, UC junior linebacker, had six tackles; Joseph Shanks, UC junior linebacker, had five tackles.
