Geraldine (Spicer) “Jerry” Short, 80, of Hornbeak died Oct. 6, 2011, at Golden Living Center in Union City.
Services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at White-Ranson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Robert Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Antioch Cemetery near Hornbeak.
Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour.
Pallbearers will be Joe Denton, Mitch Spaulding, Bobby Robertson, Terry Hailey, Terry Davis, Lanny Callicott and Brent Callicott.
She was born May 1, 1931, in Obion County, daughter of the late Clarence Allen “Speedy” Spicer Sr. and the late Iva Mae (Summer) Spicer. She married Gerald Moore “Jerry” Short Oct. 21, 1950. He died Feb. 13, 1998.
She was a long-time resident of Hornbeak and was a bank teller at Reelfoot Bank in Hornbeak for many years. She was a member of Hornbeak Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Lana and Jeff Thompson of Martin; two grandchildren and their spouses, Lori Beth and Mitch Spaulding of Dresden and Lisa and Bobby Robertson of Nashville; two great-grandchildren, Allie Spaulding and Athan Spaulding, both of Dresden; two sisters, Zelma Denton of Union City and Libby Davis of Memphis; and her brother, Clarence “Toonie” Spicer Jr. of Hornbeak.
She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Claudia Murphy.
The family requests memorials be directed to Hornbeak Baptist Church.
