KNOXVILLE (AP) — The Center for Renewable Carbon at the University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture will receive $5 million over five years from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
It’s for a research project to support the development of sustainable regional bioenergy production systems.
The project will develop feedstock production systems for dedicated energy crops, specifically switchgrass and woody biomass.
Dr. Tim Rials, director of the carbon center, will coordinate a team of scientists from UT and several collaborating institutions throughout the Southeast. Published in The Messenger 10.5.11
