It’s that time of the year again. The tax notices have been mailed out and people are beginning to pay in the office and by mail. The office has already collected $175,000 in taxes for the 2011 year. This year’s tax notice is full of good information such as discount programs for senior and disabled citizens, mortgage company payments, change of address form. Please make sure to look at the front and back for all of this useful information. If you have not received your tax notice please call us and we’ll check it out and see why you haven’t gotten it and get you a copy mailed out.
We have numerous payment options available.
• At our office:  Room 101 Weakley County Trustee Office at the Weakley County Courthouse.
• By mail to P.O. Box 663  Dresden, TN 38225
• Online at The vendor charges a 2.75 percent convenience fee for this service.
• New this year is a payment hotline 1-877-768-5048. Just call the number and follow the telephone prompt. The vendor charges a 2.75 percent convenience fee for this service.
• Bank draft: A form has been mailed along with each tax notice. You can sign up to begin in November and make four equal monthly payments until February for 2011 taxes. You also can sign up for 12 monthly bank drafts for next year’s taxes. The 2012 taxes can be paid from March 2012 until February 2013. You are not required to sign up for the bank draft. This is just an option for your convenience. If you are already on the bank draft program you do not have to resign, the form can be used if you ever change your banking account information.
• Partial payments are also accepted. You can make weekly or monthly payments by cash or check at the Trustee’s office. You decide how much you want to pay and we will give you a receipt with your remaining balance. As long as you pay 2011 taxes in full by Feb. 29, 2012 you will not have to pay any interest.
If you have sold property during the 2011 calendar year, you will receive a tax notice. If you owned the property as of Jan. 1, 2011 then you will receive a bill.  The new owner will also receive a bill if the property was bought and the deed was recorded by the end of May. If you are not responsible for the bill, please forward the bill to the responsible party.
The Weakley County Trustee’s office has a Facebook page. We will be posting information regarding the tax relief program and other services in the office.  Please log on and “like” our page, so that you can keep up with what is going on in the office.
If you have a question you would like discussed in next months article please send us an email to or Thank you.
