Sunday afertnoon fire on Noland Road outside of Sharon | | | UP IN SMOKE – Smoke from a field fire Sunday afternoon just outside of Sharon surrounded members of the Sharon Fire Department and the fire engine. According to Chief Gary Eddings, a catalytic converter on a truck parked in the harvested corn field on Noland Road caught the grass on fire underneath the vehicle, burning the truck’s tires and trailer tires. Approximately two acres of the field burned and firefighters were on the scene for nearly one hour. Eddings warned with no rain in sight this week, dry conditions and low humidity make for hazardous conditions this time of year. The Tennessee Division of Forestry also responded to the scene.
