AN APPLE A DAY … – Sherri Brawner’s pre-K students at Gleason School recently learned about Johnny Appleseed. On “Johnny Appleseed Day,” students dressed as Johnny Appleseed and enjoyed apple learning centers, which were led by the teachers and parent volunteers.  Each learning center focused on the apple theme. At one learning center, students created patterns and enhanced their fine motor skills as they strung Apple Jacks onto yarn necklaces.  At the art/technology center, students painted and colored apples.  They also used iPads to watch/listen to the story of Johnny Appleseed.  The culminating activity of the day was a Johnny Appleseed picnic outdoors. Students enjoying the day’s events were (back, from left) Lacey Hamilton, Devon Wilson, Cayden Lowry, Damion Connell, Ashton Byington, Eli Barber, Kami Thomas, Owen Taylor, MiKayla Tucker, Addyson Black, Kori Browning, (front, from left) Susana Solares, Kane Butler, Sean Vaughn, Sam Bridgeman, Payton Bell, Keaton Ramsey, Brandon Gonzalez and Donald Chiera
