Bobbie Josephine (Gray) Austin, 93, of Troy passed away Sept. 29, 2011, at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Janice Austin of Shelby, Mich.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at White & Mahon Funeral Home in Troy, with interment following at New Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery in the Elbridge community. The Rev. Judd Mowery and Bentley Rawdon will officiate.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home 1-2 p.m. Tuesday.
They request that memorials be made to Troy United Methodist Church organ fund.
She was born to the late Robert L. and Ada (Davis) Gray in Mooring July 31, 1918. She married W.I. “Bill” Austin May 16, 1936, in South Fulton. Mr. and Mrs. Austin settled in their Muskegon, Mich., area in the 1940s and resided there until after their retirement, when they decided to move back to Tennessee in 1975. While in the Muskegon area, she worked in sales for Montgomery Ward and engaged in her hobbies of collecting antiques and refinishing furniture.
She loved animals and kept many pets over the years.
In addition to her son and daughter-in-law, she is also survived by another daughter-in-law, Virginia Austin; her sister-in-law, Mary Rawdon; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Robert W. Austin, Anne M. and Jeff Lange, Lt. Col. Thomas E. and Shannon Austin, Michele Chambers, Ariane and Bill Donlon, Suzanne Austin, Shauna Bearup and Adriana Austin; nine great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bill Austin, in 1999; her son, Don Austin, in 2009; her half sisters, Ora Delaney, Sybil Delaney, Gladys Wheatley and Dorothy “Polly” Richardson; her half brother, Guy Gray; and her sister, Naoma Summers.
She was a great lady and a wonderful mother and will be deeply missed by all her family.
