|Hillcrest’s opponent for Rebel Bowl 15 has been identified. |
And for the first time in five years, South Fulton won’t be involved.
Ridgemont officially dethroned the four-time Obion County School System champion Red Devils on Thursday night, beating SF 26-14.
The win earned the Mustangs (3-2-1) the role opposite Hillcrest (4-1-1) in the title game between the five teams in the county school system.
That game will be played Oct. 13 at Obion Central.
It will also settle the score between the two clubs, which battled to a 26-all tie during the regular season in a game called due to darkness.
South Fulton (4-3), meanwhile, which had dominated the OCSS league the past four years before having a 20-game winning streak in the circuit broken earlier in the year by Hillcrest, has accepted an invitation to play in the Pioneer Bowl at Gibson County High School Oct. 13.
The Devils’ opponent has yet to be determined.
In Thursday’s only other game played between local middle school teams, Hillcrest rolled over Black Oak 49-6.
