Domestic violence shelter serves

October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.  Northwest Safeline is the domestic violence agency servicing Lauderdale County.  The office is located on the square in Ripley.  The group wants to remind people that it is  there to help victims of domestic violence and their children. The Lauderdale program coordinator takes clients to court to get orders of protection, counsels clients on options, and obtains referrals for housing, legal services, etc.  There are two confidential shelters in West Tennessee to provide physical safety for victims of domestic violence and their children.
The hotline is answered by someone 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The number is (731) 287-SAFE (7233).
