The Messenger, September 29, 2011 Usher Day planned
Members of the Church of Jesus for All at 817 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Union City are inviting the community to the annual Usher Day Sunday at 3 p.m.
The Rev. Barbara Bolden of Anointed Church of the Living God will be the speaker.
“Come and praise the Lord with us,” said the Rev. Harry Hayes, pastor. To mark special day
Bashan Baptist Church in Rives will celebrate Old Fashioned Day Sunday and members will be wearing old-fashioned clothing and using the theme “Follow the Old Paths,” based on Jeremiah 6:16.
A meal will be served upon the arrival of guests at the church.
These include Bishop Brenda Greer, who will be the speaker for the 3 p.m. program, and members of New Birth Church from Fulton. McKameys to sing
The McKameys will be in concert at Holy Hills Baptist Church in Dyersburg Oct. 13 at 7 p.m.
A love offering will be received.

A yard sale is planned Saturday from 7 a.m.-2 p.m. at 134 East Highway 22 near Union City.
The women’s ministry at Protemus Cumberland Presbyterian Church is sponsoring this fund-raising event.
There will be lots of items for sale and cold canned drinks will also be available. CP service set
Members of Union City Cumberland Presbyterian Church on the corner of East Church and South Home streets will begin Sunday services at the church with prayer at 9:45 a.m. for the congregation, the worship service, the church and the nation.
Sunday school will follow at 10, with worship at 11. The latter will be broadcast live on WOBT-TV.
Holy Grounds coffee fellowship with coffee, doughnuts and good conversation will take place at 10:40. A nursery is provided for services.
Dr. Jason Garrison, a graduate of Mid-AmericaBaptist Theological Seminary and Dallas Theological Seminary, will bring the message.
His sermon will be based on Matthew 5:43-48 and will be titled “A Different Kind of Goodness.”
A native of Hoover, Ala., he has lived in Memphis for six years and began his theological studies as the result of a “crisis of faith” in his college years.
His personal goal is to encourage others to get into the Word of God in fresh and relevant ways, a spokesman said.
