Lions up one spot
in latest ranking

Dresden has moved up one more spot in the polls.
The Lions, 5-1 following a 35-20 win over Union City on Friday night, jumped from seventh to sixth in this week’s vote by the Associated Press.
The Lions take over that spot from McKenzie, which dropped to ninth this week.
Boyd Buchanan is still the top-ranked team, followed by Trousdale County, Grace Christian, Hampton and Humboldt as the top five spots did not change.
Friendship Christian is ranked seventh, followed by Adamsville. Cascade is the No. 10 team.
Dresden, which has won 13 of its last 16 regular season games, will look to keep its climb going this week with a trip to West Carroll.

Panthers win pair
of jayvee games

Parker Beal’s four touchdowns led Martin Middle School to a 36-14 win over North Parkway in football action last week.
Beal had 15 carries for 247 yards, while Jason Hicks added 22 yards and a score on five carries with an interception and return of 26 yards on defense.
Buskin Brown had seven tackles, including a sack, Collin Stricklin added six stops with a sack, and Boone Brown also had six tackles with a sack and a quarterback hurry.
Martin Middle School defeated Trenton 44-30 in recent action.
Parker Beal had nine carries for 102 yards with a one touchdown and a two-point conversion and also brought back a kickoff return 73 yards for a TD to lead the Panthers.
Jason Hicks added 102 yards on six carries, scoring a touchdown as well.
Quasay Chandler had 15 tackles, while Hicks had 11 stops, recovered a fumble and knocked down two passes.

Hatler, Maxey pace
Dresden runners

Dresden High School’s Sarah Hatler placed second out of 65 runners at the inaugural Union City Invitational cross country meet last week at Graham Park.
Hatler posted a time of 21 minutes, 45 seconds in the girls’ meet.
Austin Maxey placed 8th out over 150 runners in the boys’ meet, running a time of 18 minutes and 14 seconds.
Dresden will run in a meet at Hardin County on Thursday.
