Melvin Benny Miller

Melvin Benny Miller, 74, of Loves Park, Ill., passed peacefully from this earthly life on Friday, September 23, 2011, at River Bluff Nursing Home with his loving family by his side.
Melvin was born February 11, 1937, in Roscoe, Ill. to Willis Sr. and Bessie Miller. He was the beloved husband of the late, Joanne (Trimble) Miller.
He was the owner of Handy Carpenter, later named Melvin Miller Remodeling for 45 years. He was well known for his integrity and quality work. He was a member of the North Park church of Christ, the Carpenter Union Local 792, and the Rockford Moose Club.
He is survived by three children: Cynthia (Randy) Gaylord, Sharon, Tennessee; Christina (Richard) Fairchild, Rockton, Illinois; and Benjamin (Shawn) Miller, Sr., Loves Park, Illinois. Five grandchildren; Carmen (Scott) Chandler, Serena (Andrew) LaPonsie, Benjamin Miller II, Kimberly (James) Malone, and Cassandra Miller. Twelve great grandchildren: Cameron Pryor, Cierra Miller, Benjamin ‘Tre’ Miller III, Makayla Miller, Destiny Conklin, Jimmy Brannon, Ashlyn Chandler, Aiden Chandler, Anderson Malone, Tucker Malone, Aubrey Claire Malone and Isabel LaPonsie. One sister, Evelyn Kehoe of Henderson, Nevada and two brothers; Willis (Becky) Miller Jr. of Roscoe, Illinois, and John (Cheri) Miller of Beloit, Wisconsin.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, four brothers and three sisters.

Funeral ceremonies will be at 11:00 am Friday September 30, 2011 in McCorkle Funeral Home 767 N Blackhawk Blvd Rockton, IL with Pastor Bobby Sheets of Riverside Community Church officiating. Burial to be in Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens in South Beloit, IL. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Thursday.
