Local runners trend toward top spots
Obion County’s cross country runners continued their trend Tuesday in Jackson.
The Obion Central girls won the team title, while Union City’s Daniel Williamson finished second overall among boys’ runners at the Trinity Christian Academy Invitational.
Rachel Jones was fourth individually with a time of 21:34, Nichole Whitson was sixth at 21:45 and Peyton Daniel placed 10th with a time of 22:31, all three earning medals for OC.
Others scoring for the team was Brittney Dodd and Whittney Dodd.
Whittney Dodd also won the Anchor Award for having the highest place finish for a fifth runner.
Central outran second-place University School of Jackson and third-place Hardin County in the girls’ meet.
Daniel Williamson finished second in the boys’ race with a time of 16:53.
The OC boys finished in sixth out of 19 boys teams.
Drake Campbell medaled for the OC boys team, finishing 15th in a time of 18:26.
Others scoring for the Rebels were Jackson Smith, Dakota Eaves, Austin Riley and Alex Terrell.
The Obion County Central running teams will run at Hardin County on Thursday. Published in The Messenger 9.28.11
