John Edward Davis, 65, of Martin died Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2011.
His services were held Monday, Aug. 29, 2011, at the Old Futon Road Church of Christ in Martin with Bro. Jessie Webb officiating. His burial was at Parham Cemetery with Rawls Funeral Home from Union City in charge of the arrangements.
His nephews, David Brown II, Al Burton, Nicholas Brown, Brad Payne, Robert Graves and Jamine Owens, served as pallbearers. S. J. Barnett, Leroy Brent, Perry Douglas, Edgar Harrell, A. V. Nunley and Vander Scott Jr. served as honorary pallbearers.
John was the son of the late Edward and Ludellia Brown Davis. He work at UTM, and then Martin Bros, then Milan Army Ammo Plant, sold insurance for Atlanta Life and worked for Goodyear Tire and Rubber. He served in the National Guard and was a Boy Scout Master.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Morris Davis; a daughter, Hassie (Darrell) Johnson; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, David (JoAnn) Brown; three brothers-in-law, Anthony (Ira) Booker, Billy Morris and Jimmy Morris; five sisters-in-law, Jessie Wade, Betty (Claude) Shields, Gennie Payne, Brena (Ezell) Easley and Agnes Morris.
He was preceded in death by one son, John Darryl; and one sister, Vanessa Booker.
