James Buckley chapter DAR celebrates Constitution Week | James Buckley Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution

The James Buckley Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution met recently in the home of regent Emily Shore for its September meeting.
The meeting was called to order by Ms. Shore. The DAR Ritual was read by Ms. Shore, chaplain Marilucille Counce and the members.
Ms. Shore led the group in saying the Pledge of Allegiance to the United States flag, the American’s Creed and the Preamble to the Constitution of the United States of America and singing “The Star-Spangled Banner.”
Secretary Mary Vowell read the minutes of the August meeting. Dr. Suzy Lowry gave the treasurer’s report.
Maria Baddour read the Indian minutes. The president general’s message was “Celebrating America’s Resilience.” Copies of the Constitution of the United States, “Know Your Rights Under the Constitution” and the Flag Code were distributed to each member.
Phyllis Hairston, a member of a DAR chapter in Texas, requested to be an associate member of the James Buckley chapter.
A short meeting was held, then the meeting was turned over to Aline Roberts. Mrs. Roberts read the story of how the Constitution began. Posters of the Constitution and the signers of the document were presented. Constitution Week was Sept. 17-23.
The meeting was adjourned and coffee and cake with cream cheese and crushed pineapple were enjoyed by all.
