Composer Alexander featured during workshop at UT Martin

Noted composer and clinician Dennis Alexander will be presented in a workshop for piano teachers from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Weldon Public Library, 100 Main St. in Martin.
This event is co-sponsored by the Martin Area Music Teachers Association and the University of Tennessee at Martin Department of Music.
Registration fees of $25 for teachers and $15 for students are payable at the door.
Session topics include “Teaching Romantic Literature to Young Students” with a master class, “Why Didn’t I Think of That?” and “Showcase of New Music.”
Since his affiliation with Alfred Publishing Company in 1986, Dennis Alexander has earned an international reputation as one of North America’s most prolific and popular composers of educational piano music for students at all levels. Alexander retired from his position at the University of Montana in May 1996, where he taught piano and piano pedagogy for 24 years.
He lives in Albuquerque, N.M., where he maintains an active composing and touring schedule for Alfred Publishing Company.
