QuickBooks courses offered

Two QuickBooks classes are being offered through the University of Tennessee at Martin’s Small Business Development Center and the Regional Entrepreneurship and Economic Development Center.
A QuickBooks basic/beginning course will be offered from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Oct. 12. A QuickBooks intermediate course will be offered from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Oct. 26.
The classes will be held at the REED Center, located at 406 South Lindell St. in downtown Martin. Both classes will be taught by Elizabeth R. Tribble, a certified public accountant and a QuickBooks certified pro advisor.
There is a $75 fee for each of the classes and the fee must be paid at the time of registration. To register for the classes, call the REED Center at (731) 587-7333 or contact Ms. Tribble directly at (615) 294-0511.
QuickBooks is recognized as a leading accounting software system used by small businesses. The basic course will explain how to properly set up and run the program. Topics that will be covered in the basic class will include accounting basics, working with bank accounts, recording sales and receiving payments, entering and paying vendor bills.
Topics that will be covered in the intermediate class will include setting preferences, doing payroll and payroll taxes, setting up inventory, tracking and paying sales tax, creating estimates and tracking time, creating financial reports and understanding financial data.
