A student was charged with assault following an incident in which a Union City Middle School teacher was allegedly pushed.
The 11-year-old Union City girl allegedly assaulted the teacher and was “disorderly and belligerent” toward school personnel Tuesday afternoon at the school, according to a Union City Police Department report.
Police reported the child was being reprimanded in class for an infraction and allegedly became “verbally abusive” and attempted to leave the classroom. UCMS teacher Marsha Stokes stood in the doorway of the classroom and allegedly was pushed into the door frame by the student.
The child allegedly left the classroom cursing and was approached by the school resource officer in the hallway, where she reportedly continued to be disruptive.
The girl, whose name was not disclosed by police, was charged with assault on a school official and disorderly conduct through a juvenile court petition.
