 Alea Ragsdale | | | Madison Armstrong doubled home the winning run in the bottom of the sixth to lead Hillcrest to a 2-1 middle school softball victory over visiting Martin on Tuesday. In other games involving local teams, Lake Road beat South Fulton 7-4, and Ridgemont took a pair from Black Oak, 15-1 and 12-0. Hillcrest 2, Martin 1 Armstrong actually drove in both Cougar tallies, with Courtney Heuck crossing the plate with the game-winner. Alea Ragsdale was the winning pitcher. Head coach Troy Boucher lauded the play of sixth graders Justice Pearson, Mary-Hanna Short and Hannah Fulbright who’ve stepped into key roles due to injuries. Hillcrest (4-6) will play in a Jackson tournament this weekend. Lake Road 7, SF 4 The Lady Generals won their seventh straight and handed South Fulton its fourth loss in five games. Lynsey Berner smacked four hits and drove in a pair of runs for LR (8-2), while Hannah Cavness had three base knocks. Robin Lewis was the winning hurler, while first baseman Madison Gargus turned in a solid defensive showing. For SF (8-4), Aalia Bivens and losing pitcher Aerial Wright had hits. The Devilettes were plagued by nine walks and six passed balls. Ridgemont 15-12, BO 1-0 Winning pitcher Sheridan Bugg had three hits as did teammate Carly Bramlett in the Mustangs’ Game 1 win, while Marissa French and Macy Muirhead each had inside-the-park home runs for the victors in the nightcap.
