For the first time since the end of the 2002 season, Murray State cracked the national rankings as the Racers are ranked 24th in this weeks The Sports Network/Fathead.com FCS Top 25 poll.
MSU is also ranked 27th in the FCS Coaches poll.
The Racers (2-1) have been receiving votes all season but cracked the poll after a convincing 58-27 victory over Tennessee State Saturday evening at Stewart Stadium.
The last time the Racers appeared in the national polls was at the conclusion of the 2002 season, the last time MSU won the OVC championship.
In addition, Murray State quarterback Casey Brockman has been honored as the player of the week by five national organizations.
He was named the Co-National Player of the Week by The Sports Network, the National Player of the Week by the College Sporting News, FCSfootballnetwork.com and collegesportsmadness.com, and National Quarterback of the Week by the College Football Performance Awards.
Brockman broke four school records in leading the Racers past TSSU.
He finished the game 45-of-67 for 600 yards and seven touchdowns and also caught a 15-yard touchdown pass.
The 45 completions establishes a new single-game OVC mark.
