• The UT extension office and the Martin Senior Senior will be offering a program called Dining with Diabetes, a school for people with diabetes and their families.
The program will be offered from 10 a.m. until noon on Sept. 27 and Oct. 4 and 11 and is open to anyone with diabetes, caretakers and family members. Dining with Diabetes is implemented over a three-week period and the three sessions will include demonstrations on how to prepare meals that are healthy and use less fat, salt and sugar without cutting taste. There will be an opportunity to taste a variety of main dishes, side dishes and desserts and participants will be expected to attend all classes.
Classes will be taught by Beverly Shelby, FCS agent at the UT extension and Glenda Nanney, R.D., of the Regional Health Department.
There is a $25 participation fee and pre-registration is required. Registration deadline is Friday and space is limited.

The Martin Senior Center is located on North Lindell Street in Martin.
• The Dresden Senior Citizen Center will be having a fundraiser featuring the Larry Frye Band from 7-10 p.m. on Thursday.
The admission is $5 and there will be refreshments and door prizes. The center is located at 589 Evergreen St. in Dresden. wcp 9/20/11 None |
