Recipes will include those submitted to The Messenger by manufacturing companies, publicists and local readers.
In order for a local reader to have a recipe considered for publication, the recipe must be typed. No handwritten recipes will be accepted. No exceptions. Measurements such as tablespoon and teaspoon should be spelled out. No abbreviations, please. Submissions must also include the cook’s name, address and day-time telephone number.

Chocolate Spiced Mocha

8 cup pot of favorite coffee
4 ounces brown sugar
2 cinnamon sticks
3 cloves, whole
3 squares of semi-sweet chocolate
3 cups of milk
 
After brewing a pot of coffee, transfer to a pot and add cinnamon, cloves, sugar, chocolate and milk. Bring the mixture to a boil and skim off foam. Reduce the heat to a simmer and then serve.
 
Fall Pumpkin Latte
 
1 teaspoon canned pumpkin
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon pumpkin spice
1 cup milk
1 1/4 cup espresso
 
In a saucepan, heat milk and pumpkin until steaming. Stir in vanilla and pumpkin spice. Put mixture in a blender and blend for 15-20 seconds until thick and foamy. Pour into tall glass and add espresso. Top with a sprinkling of ground nutmeg.
 
Black Forest Cake
 
6 ounces favorite hot coffee
2 teaspoons chocolate syrup
1 tablespoon maraschino cherry juice
Whipped cream
Dark chocolate shavings
 
In a mug, mix coffee, syrup and cherry juice. Stir well, then top with whipped cream and chocolate shavings.
