About 1,300 homes and businesses served by Gibson Electric Membership Corp. in Kenton, Mason Hall and the surrounding communities lost power at 4:05 a.m. today.
The outage was caused by an equipment malfunction on the transmission line serving Gibson EMC’s Kenton substation. Crews were able to perform switching and restored power from an alternate transmission line at 4:20 a.m., according to Rita Alexander, GEMC’s vice president of human resources and communications.
