Frank Hays Posted: Thursday, September 15, 2011 4:31 pm The Messenger, September 15, 2011 Completed arrangements are being announced for Frank Everett Hays, 87, of Union City, who died Sept. 14, 2011, at the home of his daughter, Barbara Nichols of Union City. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at White-Ranson Funeral Home. The Revs. Blake Nichols and Larry Nichols will officiate. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, great-grandsons and grandsons-in-law. Friends may call at the funeral home 5-8 p.m. Friday. The family requests that memorials be made to the American Heart Association or the Alzheimers Association. He was born Oct. 28, 1923, in Union City, son of the late Frank Eastern and Effie (Ashton) Hays. He married the former Adell Glidewell May 19, 1945. She survives. He had been the plant manager for the former Reelfoot Packing Co. in Union City and was voted “Best Boss of the Year” in 1973. He was a member of the former First Presbyterian Church in Union City and attended Mt. Olive Baptist Church near Union City. He had been a member of Union City Rotary Club and was a Kentucky Colonel and a member of Gov. Julian Carroll’s staff. He had also been a member of Union City Civitan Club and the Obion County Chamber of Commerce executive board. In 1967, he was elected vice president of Tennessee Meat Packers. He was also an avid fisherman. He is survived by another daughter and two sons-in-law, Marsha and Jackie Bone and the Rev. Larry Nichols, all of Union City; his son, Mark A. Hays of Union City; six grandchildren, Laura Nichols of Union City, the Rev. Blake Nichols of Houston, Drew Nichols of Atlanta, Valerie Beeler of Normal, Ill., Brandy Cox of St. Louis and Erin Janes of Bradford; and 12 great-grandchildren.
