Blanchard came off the bench to replace injured starter Marques Ivory and led ninth-ranked JSU to a pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns to earn offensive player of the week honors. Ealey, a transfer from Georgia, was the league’s top newcomer. Eastern Kentucky’s Patrick McClellan was the OVC Defensive Player of the Week, with Colonel punter Jordan Berry the Specialist of the Week. UTM takes another volleyball award For the second consecutive week, UT Martin’s Kasey Elswick — a defensive specialist from Louisville, Ky. — has been named the adidas Ohio Valley Conference Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week. Elswick had 71 digs (6.45 dps) in three matches for UTM this past weekend at the First State Skyhawk Invitational to move up to second on the school’s career digs lists with 1,255 digs. She needs just 147 digs to become UT Martin’s all-time digs leader. Elswick posted 26 digs in both the UAB and Stephen F. Austin matches. The honor marks the third time Elswick has claimed the league’s Defensive Player of the Week accolade and the fifth time UT Martin has had a Defensive Player of the Week. Elswick wrapped up the league’s first 2011 Defensive Player of the Week mention for her effort in the Mississippi State Maroon Classic where she recorded 73 digs in three matches and led the Skyhawks to the tournament title. The Skyhawks, currently 3-3, return to action today at Alabama A&M.
