Janet Thompson Posted: Friday, August 12, 2011 5:58 pm The Messenger, August 12, 2011 Completed arrangements are being announced for Janet Teresa (Carlton) Thompson, 56, of Union City, who died Aug. 11, 2011, at Union City Manor Nursing and Rehab Center. Services will be 3 p.m. Sunday in the old sanctuary of Union City First Baptist Church, with Dr. Cecil Sewell officiating. Burial will follow in the Obion County Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Richard Carlton Jr., John Carlton, Shane Long, Wayne Morris, Anthony Hagan and Tony Veatch. The family requests that memorials be made to Obion County Hometown Walk of Hope. She was born Oct. 28, 1954, in Biloxi, Miss., daughter of the late Richard and Marlene (Taylor) Carlton. She married Larry Mace Thompson Jan. 28, 1982. He died Nov. 10, 1999. She had been a secretary at the former Dekalb Pfizer Corn Research Facility in Union City. She was a member of Union City First Baptist Church. She is survived by her daughter, Kristy Long of Union City; her son, Steve Cochran of Dyersburg; five grandchildren, Audrey Long, David Long and Natalie Long, all of Union City, and Emma Cochran and Katie Cochran, both of Dyersburg; two sisters, Sheila Carlton of Trenton and Sindi Veatch of Newbern; two brothers, Richard Carlton Jr. of College Park, Md., and John Carlton of Murfreesboro; and four nieces and nephews.
