Traffic stop results in drug arrest
A traffic stop for a tinted-window violation turned into a drug seizure in Martin Tuesday. According to a report released by the Martin Police Department, officer Karl Jackson pulled over Roger Matthews for a tinted window violation and Matthews was allegedly unable to provide a valid registration for the vehicle he was driving – a white Hyundai.
The report stated that Jackson called for a K9 and officer Tim Dolack and his dog, Samo, arrived on the scene. The dog allegedly gave a positive alert to the vehicle, indicating the presence of either marijuana, cocaine, methamphetamine or heroin.
According to the report, offers searched the vehicle and allegedly discovered four small plastic bags of green plant-like material believed to be marijuana inside a larger bag inside the console of the car. Matthews was placed under arrest for possession of Schedule VI with intent and the evidence weighed in at 8.7 grams.
The report stated $312 in cash was also seized with the vehicle.
