Amber Alert canceled; OC man arrested
A 51-year-old Obion County man is currently being held in the Obion County Law Enforcement Complex and an Amber Alert involving two young children has been canceled, according to the Obion County Sheriff’s Department.
The West Tennessee Amber Alert was initially issued Monday for 3-year-old Jilleann Calderon and 4-year-old James Brown, who were believed to have been kidnapped by Terry Nichols of Rives.
The disappearance of the two children was not reported until Monday, but they were believed to have been kidnapped Wednesday, according to the Amber Alert.
Nichols is reportedly dating the children’s mother.
The incident is being handled by the Obion County Sheriff’s Department. Both children have reportedly been safely recovered.
Details about the charges against Nichols or any details about his apprehension were not available to The Messenger as of press time today.
Nichols is also suspected of kidnapping his niece, 16-year-old Ashley Burse, from a Walmart parking lot in Kennett, Mo., and her 3-month-old baby girl, Ava Burse. According to Missouri officials, Ava is the biological child of Nichols.
Nichols has previous criminal convictions for child abuse, is wanted for especially aggravated kidnapping and was known to go armed.
