Members of the Westover Center for the Arts will meet Monday at 12:30 p.m. at the Obion County Museum. The board must finalize the plans for the brunch and fashion show the organization is sponsoring Sept. 9 at 11 a.m. during CornFest. It will be at the Eddie Cox Senior Center at 622 South Depot St. in Union City
Judy Taylor, chairman of this event, has lined up five businesses to model their striking new fall fashions, according to a spokesman. They include JoAnn’s, JCPenney, Goody’s, Suedell’s and Five Seasons. A silent auction with some surprise items is also being discussed. Tickets are $12 and can be purchased at the museum or at the Obion County Chamber of Commerce.
A spokesman has noted the need for donations to help get the building in shape. Marti Doss noted that $450 was recently donated to clean the restored front rooms and painting them was next on the agenda. She said a $30 donation would purchase a can of paint and $60 would pay for five gallons of Kilz®. The gift of $100 could be used to repair a door or $1,000 could go for lighting to get the building in shape to host the November Westover Arts Market in the Westover Center.
