WLJT General Manager Monica Shumake and business manager Bill Brundige cleaned up the Dustin Laird Adopt-A-Site shortly before Memorial Day.

GIVING BACK – It was not much more than pulling weeds and putting down a fresh layer of mulch, but to the staff of WLJT, it was still a touching experience.  Friday before Memorial Day, members of WLJT’s staff worked an adopt-a-site in Martin dedicated to local fallen soldier, Sgt. Dustin Laird. Laird was killed in Iraq in 2006.  “WLJT is all about community” General Manager Monica Shumake said.  “We are a part of this community in both our personal and professional lives and feel it’s only appropriate to give back whenever possible.  This was just a very small way to give back in honor of Dustin and all of the other soldiers that defend our freedom.  We challenge others to find ways to give back to the soldiers in their communities as well.” Shumake and Business Manager Bill Brundige helped with the clean up.
