A Kenton man has been charged with theft in connection with the alleged taking of cash from the Union City store where he was employed.
John South Wilson, 19, of 302 Orchard St., Kenton, was arrested at 5:25 p.m. Thursday at Walmart at 1601 West Reelfoot Ave. and charged with theft over $500, according to a Union City Police Department report.
Walmart’s loss prevention manager alleged Wilson had been stealing cash out of his registers for a total amount of $700. The store official claimed he would take money from the cash holders in the register and place it underneath the pull-out till with the edges of the bills sticking out. He would then allegedly turn his back to the registers, pull out the partially-exposed bills and place them in his possession, according to the report.
The thefts were discovered when Wilson’s registers would come up short and the loss prevention manager later found the alleged incidents on surveillance video.
The thefts allegedly occurred three times Saturday and twice Sunday, police reported.
