Juliana Kovacs, 72, of Water Valley, Ky., died 9 p.m. May 26, 2011, at Jackson Purchase Medical Center in Mayfield, Ky.
A funeral mass was planned for 10:30 a.m. today at St. Edward’s Catholic Church in Fulton, with Father Shijo Vadakumkara officiating and burial following in Water Valley Cemetery.
The family requests that memorials be made to St. Edward’s Catholic Church, 504 Eddings St., Fulton, KY 42041.
Hornbeak Funeral Home in Fulton is in charge of arrangements.
She was born Feb. 6, 1939, in Ruma, Yugoslavia, daughter of the late Mathias and Maria (Fisher) Joos. She was the widow of Joseph Kovacs and was a homemaker and a member of St. Edward’s Catholic Church. She had lived in Water Valley since 1994, when she moved from Chicago.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Juliana and David Hicks of Water Valley; three grandchildren and their spouses, Katherine and Wesley Joyner of South Fulton, Sarah and Joshua Parrish of Fulton and James Hicks of Water Valley; three great-grandchildren, Riley Joyner and Grant Joyner, both of South Fulton, and Mason Parrish of Fulton; her sister, Eva Schatz of St. Claire, Mo.; and two brothers, George Joos and Frank Joos, both of Chicago.
