With summer about here, we need to check and see what’s happening at the library. Our librarian has many programs for the different ages of children in our community and also for the older readers. If you have any questions call 456-2707.
Then just across the tracks from town, you will find the Sharon Senior Center. They have many activities for the seniors and almost seniors. Do you enjoy playing cards, games, dominoes and ping-pong? There are also a few exercise equipment pieces available.
Be sure you stop by and pick up the prepared calendar so you know the dates of the activities and of any closings. If you need information about the center, call 456-2213.
Don’t forget that Legends, which is owned and operated by Larry and Tammy Morgan and is in the old grocery store at 153 East Main St. in Sharon, will have the grand opening on June 4 from 7-10:30 p.m. They will have the band Branded Country performing Friday and Saturday night and also the night of the grand opening.
Do you enjoy listening to a live country/western band? If you enjoy participating or want to learn line dancing, participating in karaoke, or want to learn about Zumba exercising, these will also be available through the week. The business will have Keely Adams on Monday nights for the Zumba exercise class, Tuesday nights will be karaoke night and Liz Sandler will teach country line dancing on Thursday nights. They will be closed on Wednesdays and Sundays. This is a clean, alcohol-free, no-smoking facility and they will also have concessions. For more information or if you have questions, call Larry or Tammy at 514-4856.
On May 27, Janice and Gary Page will celebrate their anniversary; on May 28, Jerry Weddington will celebrate his birthday; on May 29, Frankie Mansfield will celebrate his birthday; and on May 31, Elaine and Danny Cook celebrate will their anniversary.
I enjoy wishing happy birthdays and anniversaries, but it takes your help, too. So be sure your loved ones are on my list. Simply contact me. I will gladly print their birthdays, anniversaries, or other special days. But for that to happen, you need to send an e-mail to email@example.com or call 456-9823.
Thought for the week: “God’s Son lights up the world!” If you have a thought you would like to share with the readers, feel free to drop me an email or call me and I will put it in my article.
That’s all the news this week. Remember to continue to pray for your friends, neighbors, our community, and our military. May God have mercy on our land and bless you all!wcp 5/26/11
