Bake sale benefits
storm victims
There will be a huge bake Sale Friday from 9 a.m.-noon benefiting the storm victims of Tuscaloosa, Ala., and Joplin, Mo., in front of the Weakley County Courthouse.
Please donate baked goods if you can. The group will be taking all kinds of donations, including clothes, toothpaste, toothbrushes, any hygiene items, bedding etc. All donations are appreciationed. All items will be sent to the American Red Cross in those areas.
Applications
available for
public review
On June 2 at 4:15 p.m., the federal projects application for Weakley County Schools, under the “No Child Left Behind Act of 2011,” will be available for public review and comments prior to the regularly scheduled Weakley County School Board meeting, held at Weakley County Board of Education Building in Dresden. All interested citizens, school personnel and parents of students in Weakley County Schools are invited and encouraged to review and make comments pertaining to the design, planning and implementation of the following: Title I Part A, “Improving the Academic Achievement of the Disadvantaged,” Title II Part A, “Teacher and Principal Training and Recruiting,” Title III Part A, “English Language Learners”, and Title VI Part B, “Rural Education Initiative.” For further information, contact Doug Braden, Federal Projects director, at 364-2247.
5k walk/run
to be held
A “Spice Up The Fight,” 5k walk/run will be held June 4 at 8 a.m. The event is being sponsored by Tumbling Creek Baptist Church Relay for Life team in Gleason. Registration will begin at 7 a.m. in front of the school. Entry fees are $20 for pre-registered and $25 on the day of the race.
Hugh Nanney
reunion to be held
The Hugh Nanney Family will be holding a reunion, June 4 at 5 p.m. at Graham Park in Union City. The meal will be potluck. The plates and such will be provided. Everyone is asked to bring your family, a lawn chair and family memorabilia. For more information, call 538-3555 or 514-9808.
Stephens reunion
set for June 5
The descendents of Tom & Martha Stephens of the Jackson Chapel Community in Hickman County, Ky., will meet on June 5 for their annual family reunion. They will meet at the Columbus State Park in Hickman County in the big pavilion.

Gospel meeting
to be held
Macedonia Church of Christ, Lower Sharon Road, in Dresden, will be holding a gospel meeting, June 5-9. Toney Smith of Rendon, Texas, will be the speaker. Times of services are Sunday Bible classes, 10 a.m.; morning worship, 11; evening worship, 7:30 p.m. and Monday through Thursday services will be at 7 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend.
Class reunion
to be held
Martin High School Class of 1954 will be holding their class reunion at Paris Landing Inn on June 11. Fellowship will begin at 5 p.m., with a buffet dinner at 6 p.m.
Anyone who is interested is invited to attend the festivities.

CK Splash
pageant set
CK Splash Pageant is set for June 11 at the Ned Ray McWherter Civic Center Dresden.
The pageant will begin at 1 p.m. Registration will begin at 12 p.m.
The following categories will be available: Girls age division: 0-12 months, 13-24 months, 25-36 months, 3-5 years, 5-9 years, 10-12 years, 13-15 years and 16 and up.
Boys age divisions: 0-12 months, 13-24 months, 3-5 years and 6-9 years.
Dress for the pageant is Sunday best, flower girl dress or pageant wear. No modeling or pageant experiences required.
Pricing for divisions is as follows: Beauty-$25 (mandatory for all contestants). Optional categories such as supreme king/queen, photogenic, and best awards are $10 each.
Contestants may pre- register and enter all categories for $45.
