NO FISHING AT MRC LAKE FOR 2 WEEKS
The Lake at the Martin Recreation Complex will be closed to fishing now thru June 4 in order to prepare for the Annual Fishing Derby.  Thank you!
MUNICIPAL SWIMMING POOL – LEARN TO SWIM PROGRAM
Registration for swimming lessons at the Martin Municipal Swimming Pool will be held June 1-2 at the Swimming Pool from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m.
You must register in person (no phone calls).  All class enrollment is on a first come, first serve basis.  Payment is due at registration.  NO REFUNDS!  
Classes meet on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.  Sessions dates are first session, will be June 6-17 and second session will be June 20-July 1.    
Ages 5 & UP (Beginners/Advanced)  Levels 1 – 7.  Cost $60.  Sessions will be held from 11 a.m.-12 p.m..   There is a limit of 25 students per class.
Ages 3 & 4 (One on One Instruction).  Cost $50.  Sessions will be held from 5-5:30 p.m. or 5:30-6 p.m.  There is a limit of 5 students per class.
MARTIN MUNICIPAL SWIMMING POOL OPENING DAY
The Martin Municipal Swimming Pool will be opening Saturday, June 4 for the 2011 season with special hours and admission.  Special hours for the opening day are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and admission price will be $1.  Come out and enjoy the sun and fun at the Martin Municipal Swimming Pool on Clearwater Street.
FISHING DERBY
If you are 14 years or younger and enjoy fishing, now is your chance!  Come join the Parks & Rec. staff and the Martin Kiwanis members at the Martin Recreation Complex Lake for a morning of casting and reeling.
The event is June 4 from 8 a.m. -12 p.m.  
The schedule for the derby is as follows: 8 a.m., registration for all ages (14 & under)
All ages begin fishing.        
9 a.m.    Registration closes
10:10 a.m.    End the 5 and under fishing
10:45 a.m.    End the 6-8 year old fishing
11:15 a.m.    End the 9-11 year old fishing
11:45 a.m.    End the 12-14 year old fishing
Participants are asked to bring a pole, bait, bucket or stringer, lawn chair and something to drink.
The Kiwanis Club and TWRA will present several awards in four age divisions.

GOLF CLINIC
Our department in conjunction with Doe Valley Golf Center will be offering a youth Golf Clinic for ages 10 to 18 years old.  The session will be June 10, 11, 17 and 18.  Time will be 10 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.
The sessions will be held at the Doe Valley Golf Center, 9786 Reams Road and  conducted by PGA Professional Gary Keating. Keating, formerly from Florida, was named Teacher of Year for Southwest Florida.
Fees will be $40 per participant with registration taking place at the Martin Parks & Rec. office on North Lindell through June 8.  Class space is limited so register today!
5th ANNUAL SUMMER BASEBALL CAMP
Full Count Sports Academy will be hosting the 5th Annual Summer Baseball Skills Camp June 13–16 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m..  Fees are $70 for members and $80 for nonmembers.  Registration forms can be picked up at Full Count, 8260 Highway 45 South.  For more information contact the Full Count Office at 819-8286, Jason Sullivan at (901) 378-1544 or Craig Lowrance at (731) 446-8463.
REMINDER OF PARK RULES
Ball season is geared up and there is a lot more traffic at the park.  We would like to remind everyone that dogs are not permitted inside the fences at the 4-plex and 5-plex and must be on a leash (not to exceed 6’) elsewhere in the park.  Fishermen please be aware of your surroundings and be sure to clean up after yourself.  Help us take care of your park.
