The Union City Police Department will conduct sobriety checkpoints for the Hands Across the Border enforcement campaign.
Police will also conduct sobriety checkpoints and seat belt checkpoints to assist in the Memorial Day Click It or Ticket impaired driving campaign which is under way through June 5.
Officers will be out in force conducting saturation patrols to deter drunk driving and reduce accidents. Sobriety checkpoints will be conducted from 8-11 p.m. Saturday in the vicinity of U.S. Highway 51 North and North Clover Street in Union City.
“Help us help you by developing good driving habits,” Union City Police Chief Joe Garner said. “Seat belts do save lives, don’t drink and drive, watch out for the other guy — simple rules and a simple solution for an increasing problem.”
