Bulldozer operator Josh Koffman began clearing out the entranceway to the new walking track Thursday afternoon. The new track is costing nearly $1.2 million, with 90 percent of the funding coming from a transportation enhancement grant from the state Department of Transportation, according to city manager Kathy Dillon. Allen Searcy Builder Contractor in Union City is the general contractor for the project, which is expected to be completed within 10 months. Meanwhile, city officials are soliciting suggestions to name the walking track.
