Miss Smothers to wed Matt Clark on June 11

The engagement and forthcoming marriage of Kari Elaina Smothers of Dyersburg and Matthew Lance “Matt” Clark of Union City are being announced today.
The bride-elect is the daughter of Dwight Smothers of Greeneville and Kristy Smothers of Dyersburg. Her grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Harold McKee of Newbern and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Smothers of Wynnburg.
She is a 2003 graduate of Dyer County High School in Newbern and a 2007 graduate of the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in dental hygiene. While at UT, she was inducted into the Alpha Eta Honor Society for the College of Allied Health Sciences and graduated with honors. She is employed at Milton Cravens, DDS in Jackson.
The groom-elect is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Clark of Union City. His grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Gene Clark of Rutherford and Dorothy Gwaltney and the late Len Gwaltney of Union City.
He is a 2003 graduate of Obion County Central High School and a 2007 magna cum laude graduate of the University of Tennessee at Martin, where he earned a bachelor of science degree in cell and molecular biology. He is attending the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry in Memphis and plans to graduate May 2012.
The couple will exchange vows at First United Methodist Church in Newbern on June 11.
