Jackson to host women’s conference

Four different agencies are coming together to sponsor a women’s conference set for June 21 at the West Tennessee Research and Education Center in Jackson.
There is a $40 registration fee to attend the conference and the cost is $75 for two people to attend. The registration fee covers the conference, a continental breakfast and lunch.
The “Building Blocks for Success” Conference is being sponsored by the WestStar Leadership Program, Tennessee Economic Council on Women, University of Tennessee at Martin Regional Entrepreneurship and Economic Development Center and the Tennessee Small Business Develop-ment Center.
The conference targets opportunities for women business owners and is set for 8:30 a.m.-2:15 p.m.
The center is located at 605 Airways Blvd. in Jackson.
The women’s conference offers a variety of opportunities for women business owners who want to sell in the business-to-business (B2B) marketplace. The multi-billion dollar market segment consists of buyers from government and private industry who purchase services, equipment, supplies, transportation, wholesale, retail, agriculture, finance or most any good or service.
Conference sessions will cover resource providers, matchmaking, customer service, business basics, promoting global trade culture, social media and employment law and traditional marketing strategies.
Jennifer Rawls, Tennessee Economic Development Council for Women executive director, will open the conference.
Speakers and panelists and the organizations they represent include Jacque Hillman, Jackson Sun custom content editor and owner of Reconfigured Art Jewelry; Joel Newman, representing the TSBDC; Hollie Holt, UTM TSBDC and REED Center director; Laura Williams, representing Rainey, Kizer, Reviere and Bell, P.L.C.; Shannon White, representing Global Girl Business Services; Dr. Bonnie Jones, UT Institute of Public Service human resource consultant; Sherry Deutschmann, LetterLogic founder and CEO; and Seth Chandler, representing the Dca/Dcpr Advertising and Public Relations Advertising Firm.
Registrations will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis.
Those registering by mail can send their checks to WestStar to UT Martin, 321 Administration Building, Martin, TN 38238. Those registering for two people should include all of the information on both registrants.
Those registering by e-mail should send a check to Virginia Grimes at vgrimes@utm.edu. Registrants should include their name, business, complete address and phone number. The check should arrive by the June 15 deadline. Those registering by fax can send the registration form to (731) 881-7019 and credit card information can be added to the fax form.
