Gladys “Izzy” (Isbell) Vinson, 88, of Tampa, Fla., passed away May 19, 2011.
There will be a graveside service Friday at 10 a.m. at East View Cemetery, with White-Ranson Funeral Home in charge of local arrangements.
The family requests that memorials be made to First Baptist Church of Tampa, 302 West Kennedy Blvd., Tampa FL 33606.
She moved to the Tampa area from Tennessee when she was 16 and attended the former Tampa Business College. She was employed by Pioneer Telephone Co. and remained with that company as it transitioned to GTE, then Verizon, retiring after more than 30 years of service. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Tampa, the National Secretaries Association and the MacDill Officers’ Spouses’ Club. She was also very active in Beta Sigma Phi, where she held many offices, including chairman of fundraising.
Gladys is survived by her loving family, including her sister-in-law, Mildred Isbell of Tennessee; four nieces and their spouses, Cynthia (Isbell) and Norman Krueger and Barbara Jean and Sam Brodsky, all of Tampa, and Shelby Jean and Harold Townsend and Martha Sue and J.D. Anderson, all of Tennessee; two nephews and their spouses, Robert Kenneth and Verna Isbell of Perry, Fla., and William George and Marie Isbell of Tennessee; nine great nieces and great nephews; 10 great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews; and two great-great-great-nieces and great-great-great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry M. Vinson, her parents, two sisters, her brother and her great nephew.
