CLEVELAND (AP) — A Bradley County Sheriff’s deputy was injured when he hit a runaway cow with his patrol car.
On Thursday morning, Doug Boucher was driving around searching for the cow, which had escaped from her pen.
Sheriff’s office spokesman Bob Gault told the Chattanooga Times Free Press that Boucher hit the cow when it leaped from the woods and ran in front of his car.
The cow slammed into the hood and windshield, pinning Boucher to the driver’s seat. Rescue workers were able to pull him out and he was taken to the hospital. His condition was not immediately available.
The cow died upon impact.
The accident is being investigated by the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
