The Obion County-Union City Retired Teachers Association met recently at First Citizen’s National Bank in Troy. Hostesses for the meeting were Monya Sanders, Ina Orsborne and Betty Whitesides.
Caroline Duncan of The ADBC Inc. Fitness Studio gave the program. She spoke on the “Top 10 Reasons You’re Not Losing Weight” by Toly Amidar in “Diets and Weight Loss, Healthy Tips.”
President Alice Fennel called the meeting to order. The group said the “Pledge of Allegiance.” Mrs. Orsborne read the minutes of the last meeting and Gloria Howell gave the treasurer’s report. Mary Dunavant read a letter of thanks from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northwest Tennessee for the paper products the organization gave to the club. Mrs. Dunavant then took up money for Safeline. She reported on cards sent to sick members.
Maggie Vaughan and Mrs. Fennel gave the latest news from Nashville. Mrs. Fennel reported the retired teachers would get a small raise in July.
The hostesses prepared a breakfast brunch before the meeting with ham and biscuits, fruit, muffins, cookies and sweet rolls, as well as coffee or soft drinks.
The meeting was adjourned until May. A dutch treat luncheon will be served at Another Thyme Restaurant in Union City. The Rev. Walter Asher of the Antioch/Rives/Central Union United Methodist churches will give the devotional.
Teachers are asked to call Mrs. Fennel at 536-5660 or Jettie Huff at 885-3032 for the lunch in May.
Mrs. Fennel told that she, Ms. Howell and Mrs. Dunavant were to attend the workshop of West Tennessee Membership in Jackson on the following Monday.
