Joyce (Wade) Laster of Bradford passed away May 13, 2011, at the age of 68, after a three-year battle with cancer.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hunt Funeral Home in Bradford, with the Revs. Charles Southerland and Billy Hanks officiating. Burial will follow in Poplar Springs Cemetery near Bradford.
Friends may call at the funeral home 3:30-8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until the hour of services Tuesday.
She was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church and Woman’s Missionary Union for several years and served her community with produce stands in Troy and Hornbeak before settling down in Bradford, where she eventually retired.
She leaves her cherished memories with her daughter and son-in-law, Crystal “JJA” and Ricky McCormick of Bradford; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda and Johnny Ball of Smithville, JoAnn and Danny George of Chattanooga and Debbie and Jim Reeder of Paris; and many nieces and nephews. She was also known as “MeMaw” to a special 3-year-old, Tryce McCormick, whom she thought of as a grandson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Laster; her parents, Dorris and Luna Ray Wade; and two sisters, Janice Cox and Beth Schliess.
