U.S. Rep. Stephen Fincher has been selected to serve on the prominent House Financial Services Committee, which has jurisdiction over all issues pertaining to the economy, the banking system, housing, insurance and securities and exchanges.
The committee also has jurisdiction over monetary policy, international finance, international monetary organizations, and efforts to combat terrorist financing.
“I am honored to join such a distinguished and prominent committee in the House of Representatives,” said Fincher, who represents Tennessee’s Eighth Congressional District. “During these times of economic uncertainty, the House Financial Services Committee will play an important role in creating jobs and fostering an environment that allows businesses to grow. I am confident that my real world business experience will bring a strong frame-of-reference to the Committee and assist in developing strong public policy to turn our economy around.
“In addition, joining this committee will be an asset in bringing forth the strength of the Memphis banking center as well as ensuring rural areas have a voice in policies impacting the flow of capitol. Ensuring small businesses in rural areas have a voice in financial issues is key to creating jobs. I look forward to serving this committee, Tennessee and all of our country with integrity and honesty.”
Financial Services Committee Chairman Spencer Bachus said, “As a small business owner, Congressman Fincher has real world business experience that will be an asset to the Committee. He understands there are government barriers that are hindering a real economic recovery. The Financial Services Committee is at the forefront of promoting the right policies that foster growth and job creation, and Congressman Fincher will provide invaluable input on solutions to get Americans back to work.”
