American Legion Post 20 grave flags to decorate the graves of Obion County’s veterans will be available for pickup by cemetery decorators at the Veterans Service office at the Eddie Cox Senior Center at 622 South Depot St. in Union City May 24 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. daily.
Veterans Service officer Chuck Ashley said if the flags are received earlier than anticipated, he will contact each decorator and give them the new information about pick-up.
Donations to assist in covering the cost of the flags are being sought. The effort costs about $2,900 locally. Donations may be mailed to Allen Nohsey, American Legion Commander, P.O. Box 345, Union City, TN 38281-0345.
“We are grateful to all donors and decorators, including those who are veterans themselves, and to relatives of veterans, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts and members of organizations such as Daughters of the American Revolution, Sons of the American Revolution and other patriotic citizens,” Ashley said.
