A local Walmart employee has been charged with theft for allegedly taking items from one store and exchanging them for cash at another store.
Katelynn Noel Elkins, 19, of 208 Aztec St., Martin, was charged Tuesday afternoon with theft under $500, according to a Union City Police Department report.
Police responded to the Union City Walmart Supercenter at 1601 West Reelfoot Ave. in reference to an alleged theft. A store official alleged that between April 21 and last Friday, Ms. Elkins took several items of merchandise from Walmart in Union City and exchanged them for cash at Walmart in Martin.
The store has the incidents on video, according to the report. The total value of the merchandise taken was reported to be $166.46.
