Fire destroys house

A vacant house on Brevard Road near Union City was destroyed by fire early Sunday.
The Union City Fire Department responded about 2:40 a.m. to the fire at 1746 Brevard Road in order to protect the home of a neighboring property owner at 1732 Brevard Road, near the intersection with Garrigan Road.
Fire officials said early this morning they do not know who owns the house which caught fire, adding the house was empty and the yard was overgrown.
Firefighters were on the fire scene until 5:55 a.m.
